A man has been convicted of sexually abusing a child, and a woman was also convicted after facilitating and allowing the abuse to happen for cash.
Ferdous Ahmad, 37, of Queensbridge Road, Hackney, and the woman, from Devas Street, Tower Hamlets, were found guilty after a two-week trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday, 30 September.
Ahmad was convicted of two counts of sexual assault, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and sexual communication with a child. The woman was convicted of two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
“We will not be confirming the woman’s identity to avoid identification of the child victim,” said the police.
They were remanded for sentencing at the same court on Monday, 16 December. All of the offences occurred between 29 November 2023 and 31 March 2024.
An investigation was launched in March 2024 when police were contacted by a man alleging Ahmad had been sexually communicating with a teenage girl.
They established that Ahmad had been repeatedly sexually abusing the child, and the woman – who was the child’s mother – had been selling the 15-year-old girl to Ahmad to be sexually abused.
Between November 2023 and March 2024, the woman repeatedly sold her daughter to Ahmad for him to abuse sexually.
Met officers worked tirelessly to investigate. Specially trained officers who are highly skilled in investigating sexual offences involving children worked tirelessly to gather medical, witness, digital and forensic evidence that would eventually help to prove the pair’s guilt.
Police are concerned that Ahmad may have sexually abused other young children and are appealing for anyone who might have been a victim of his or knows someone who was to come forward.
Detective Constable Matthew Cranston, from the Central East Child Abuse Investigation Team, said, “Ahmad is a dangerous sexual predator who has now been convicted of grooming and sexually abusing a child. I commend the courage of the victim in this case, who bravely gave evidence and trusted us when the offences first came to light.
“This case demonstrates the Metropolitan Police’s unwavering commitment to supporting victims of crime and ensuring that those who seek to cause harm to children and use violence against women and girls are brought to justice. If you need to speak to us, you will be supported.
