Agents of the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD), supported by members of the Specialised Airport Security Corps (CESAC) and State Intelligence agencies, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, arrested at the International Airport of the Americas, JFPG, two Nigerians who were travelling to France, Paris, on the same flight, with their stomachs full of bags of alleged narcotic substances.
Based on intelligence reports, the agents and soldiers proceeded to intercept the two foreigners. After carrying out the protocol that is applied for these cases, foreign bodies were detected through the X-ray machines in the digestive tracts of both passengers.
They were immediately transferred to the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces, where, in the hands of medical specialists, they began the process of expelling the bags of the substance.
“The two Nigerians, who will be identified promptly, would travel to France on the same flight from the terminal of the Americas; both have expelled, so far, more than 150 bags of the substance, while the process of expulsion of the substance continues”
Authorities have reports that it is a criminal structure which uses Dominicans and foreigners as mules for international drug trafficking to bring drugs in their stomachs to Europe and the United States.
The foreigners, aged 50 and 44, are still being held at the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces, waiting to conclude the process of expelling the bags, and then be handed over to the Permanent Care Jurisdiction of the province of Santo Domingo.
The Ministry and the DNCD are carrying out investigations to determine if there are others involved in the frustrated international drug trafficking operation.
