About 1,000 Suspects Arrested, 351,000 Grams of Drugs Seized in DNCD Anti-trafficking Operations

In a crackdown on micro-trafficking, authorities in the Dominican Republic arrested 929 individuals and seized more than 351,000 grams of various narcotics.

This operation was conducted by agents from the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD), the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the National Police.

For several days, law enforcement carried out 34 raids and more than 2,000 operations targeting the trafficking and sale of controlled substances. The total haul included 109,138 grams of cocaine, 204,353 grams of marijuana, 2,260 grams of crack cocaine, along with smaller amounts of heroin, hashish, and ecstasy.

Additionally, authorities confiscated five firearms, numerous knives and machetes, four vehicles, 50 motorcycles, and over 250 cell phones as part of their efforts.

These operations were executed in various neighbourhoods across the National District and provinces, including Santo Domingo, Hato Mayor, La Romana, and Santiago.

The DNCD and the Public Prosecutor’s Office continue to strengthen their strategies against drug trafficking.

Since the beginning of 2024, they have removed over 13 million grams of narcotics from circulation—a record achievement in their fight against micro-trafficking.
