NOPD Arrests Elijah Riggins Suspect in Eighth District Shooting Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Elijah Riggins in its investigation of an aggravated battery by shooting that occurred on November 30, 2024, at the intersection of Canal and Carondelet streets.

At about 2:18 a.m. on November 30, NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of shots fired at the intersection of Bourbon and Canal streets. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital. The incident scene was later determined to be the intersection of Canal and Carondelet streets.

Through further investigation, NOPD detectives developed and identified Riggins as the perpetrator in this incident. Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Riggins on one count each of aggravated battery by shooting and for illegal use of weapons.

In the early hours on February 10, Riggins was found to be in the 100 block of Royal Street in the Eighth District. Officers arrested and booked Riggins into the Orleans Parish Justice Center accordingly.
