The NOPD has made an arrest in a January 7, 2025 homicide that claimed the life of a 38-year-old man in the Fifth District.
Arrested was Sterling Pepe, Black male.
Pepe was apprehended by the NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad along with U.S. Marshals early this morning (February 13, 2025) in the 1900 block of Touro Street.
Pepe is accused of shooting and killing 38-year-old Geron Elzie shortly after noon at Elysian Fields Avenue and North Galvez Street.
Through investigation detectives identified Pepe as the perpetrator and have charged him with second degree murder. He was booked into the Orleans Justice Center accordingly.
