ICE Buffalo Nabs Mexico’s Alejandro Salazar Convicted of Rape

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement apprehended an illegally present Mexican national convicted of rape in the first degree when officers arrested Alejandro Salazar, 44, upon release from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, New York, February 21.

Salazar illegally entered the United States in January 1995 without inspection by an immigration official. N

ew York County Supreme Court convicted Salazar of rape in the first-degree Nov. 14, 2012, and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

ICE lodged an immigration detainer with the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision on March 19, 2013.

An immigration judge ordered Salazar removed from the U.S. to Mexico on October 17, 2013.

The Clinton Correctional Facility honoured the detainer and transferred Salazar to ICE custody.

Salazar remains in custody at Buffalo Federal Detention Facility in Batavia, New York, and is awaiting a flight to be removed.
