New Orleans Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide investigation.
Arrested is  Tremaine Sturgis, a Black male.
All persons are considered innocent unless convicted in a court of law.
According to investigators, Fifth District officers responded to a report of a shooting incident shortly before 8:30 p.m. on April 25, 2025, in the 4300 block of Saint Claude Avenue.
On arrival, they found a 70-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
New Orleans EMS confirmed the victim was deceased.
Homicide detectives were able to determine that the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal altercation during which Tremaine Sturgis used a firearm to shoot the victim.
Homicide detectives and Fifth District officers later located Tremaine Sturgis in the 3300 block of Saint Claude Avenue and took him into custody.
The Orleans Parish Coroners Office will confirm the exact cause of death and release the victim’s information once they confirm the victim’s immediate family is notified.
