On December 28, 2024, at approximately 8:41 p.m., LVMPD Communications received a report of a shooting in the 6600 block of Tampa Court.
Arriving officers located a male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds inside of a residence. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officers received information that the suspect had fled from the residence prior to officers arriving. Shortly after, officers located the suspect in the 5500 block of Balzar Avenue, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned the suspect was 15 years old and the son of the victim.
The juvenile and his father were involved in a verbal altercation along with other family members. At some point, the juvenile grabbed a firearm and shot his father.
He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and open murder and booked into the Clark County Juvenile Hall.
This is an ongoing investigation being led by the LVMPD Homicide Section.
The identification of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
